About The Position

University Volkswagen is a top-performing Dealership seeking a passionate and talented Automotive Technician to join their Volkswagen Service Department. The team is described as hard-working and fun-loving, with employee events like "Donut Wednesdays" and summer BBQs. The dealership is committed to treating customers and employees with honesty, respect, and professionalism, aiming to exceed customer expectations and guide them through automotive changes. The successful candidate will have experience in the diagnosis, mechanical operation, and repair of automobiles and will work closely with the Service Manager and the rest of the Volkswagen Service team. Job offers are contingent upon passing a drug test for specific substances (excluding marijuana/THC).

Requirements

  • One year experience in the automotive repair industry as a technician or mechanic is preferred.
  • ASE and brand certifications are a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possess or be willing to purchase your own tools.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and communication skills are essential.
  • Be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Completes service and repair assignments correctly in the specified time frame, ensuring repairs pass quality inspections and test drives.
  • Diagnoses and corrects mechanical and electrical problems in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Explains technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-technical individuals, which may include other teammates and customers as required.
  • Uses manuals, computer systems, and technical bulletins to complete the repair order.
  • Stays up to date on the latest technical services and all information pertinent to the Automotive Technician position through trainings, bulletins, campaigns, etc.
  • Maintains a clean and well-organized work area; performs preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on dealership tools and equipment.
  • Maintains safe working practices and abides by working rules and standards; follows all hazardous waste and OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
  • Coordinates with the parts department to ensure parts are available to complete repair; properly disposes of used parts and returns unused parts.
  • Promotes the dealership by always presenting a professional image and positive attitude; demonstrates commitment to other staff, customers, dealership, and company.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external customers/provides technical assistance and support to team members as needed.
