About The Position

The Automotive Technician completes repairs and corrections identified by engineering to bring vehicles from a non-saleable condition to a safely saleable condition. The role may also require additional diagnostics and repairs, including identifying unspecified vehicle problems and determining appropriate corrections and procedures. The position performs basic to mild automotive repairs, removes and installs parts, diagnoses incoming vehicles, and programs vehicle modules using a computer. Technicians are expected to follow Suburban Automotive Service’s DRIVEN values and align business practices with the company’s mission and vision.

The starting pay rate is $22 per hour, based on experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic diagnostic skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to remain on one’s feet for extended periods.
• Own a cell phone for communication with clients and team members.
• Mild to moderate understanding of using a computer to program vehicle modules.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Customer-service orientation.
• Exceptional time-management and multitasking skills.
• Self-starter.
• Reliable team player.
• Basic hand tools and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, picks, pliers, hammers, impacts, ratchets, and grinders.
• Experience using battery chargers and maintainers.
• Experience using special equipment such as hoists, transmission jacks, and cherry pickers.
• Knowledge of proper fluid handling.

Responsibilities

• Complete engineering-provided repairs and corrections to make vehicles safely saleable.
• Perform basic to mild automotive repairs.
• Remove and install parts as needed.
• Diagnose vehicles as they arrive.
• Program vehicle modules using a computer.
• Identify unspecified vehicle problems and determine how to correct them and which procedures to follow.
