About The Position

1776 is seeking a dependable, skilled Automotive Technician to work on cars, pickup trucks, and other company vehicles in Chancellor, South Dakota. The role focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles to keep the fleet safe, reliable, and operating efficiently. The technician should be motivated, take pride in quality workmanship, and be able to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented shop environment. This is a full-time, on-site position with a Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Compensation is $25-$30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

Previous automotive repair or maintenance experience; two or more years preferred.
Knowledge of automotive systems, preventative maintenance, and diagnostic procedures.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and automotive diagnostic equipment.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment.
Valid driver's license required.

Nice To Haves

Technical or trade school training preferred.
ASE certifications are a plus but are not required.
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, maintain, and repair cars, pickup trucks, and other company vehicles.
Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, tire rotations, and inspections.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and drivability issues using diagnostic tools and technical information.
Repair and service engines, brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, and other vehicle components.
Inspect vehicles for safety concerns and recommend necessary repairs.
Perform preventative maintenance to reduce breakdowns and extend vehicle life.
Accurately document repairs, labor, parts used, and maintenance performed.
Communicate vehicle concerns and recommended repairs to shop leadership.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
