Are you an experienced Automotive Technician looking to build a stable career with exceptional benefits? Wake County offers paid vacation, holiday pay, accrued sick leave, comprehensive medical coverage, 401(k) contributions, and participation in one of the top five pension plans in the nation, as ranked by S&P Global. As an Automotive Technician with our Fleet Operations Division, you will join a team of highly trained, certified professionals responsible for maintaining and repairing more than 1,100 County-owned vehicles. Our diverse fleet supports administrative staff, EMS, Sheriff’s Office, emergency response teams, and numerous service departments. In this role, your expertise will help ensure vehicle reliability, maximize uptime, and support vital County operations. You will apply your diagnostic and mechanical repair skills to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex vehicle systems, and provide high-quality service for our customers. You’ll work alongside supportive coworkers and supervisors who value collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement. All Fleet Operations positions are designated as essential. Employees are required to report during adverse weather or emergency situations to ensure critical equipment and services remain operational. Because this is a safety‑sensitive role, a pre‑employment drug test and participation in the County’s random drug testing program are required.
