About The Position

Group 1 Automotive is actively hiring Main Line Automotive Technicians at our Kansas City-area dealerships, including Shawnee Mission Kia and BMW of Shawnee Mission. We're seeking experienced, bumper-to-bumper technicians who excel at diagnostics, drivability concerns, electrical systems, suspension, brakes, engines, and transmission repairs. Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of professional automotive repair experience
  • Proven ability to run your own bay independently
  • Strong diagnostic skills with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of: Electrical systems, Engine and drivability diagnostics, Suspension, steering, brake, and HVAC systems
  • Experience performing major repairs in an OEM dealership setting
  • Own professional‑grade tools required for main line technician work
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

  • Master Technicians and advanced diagnostic techs are strongly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical vehicle concerns with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot drivability, engine, transmission, HVAC, brake, steering, suspension, and electrical system issues using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Manage repair orders independently while maintaining strong productivity and quality metrics.
  • Provide clear and detailed documentation of inspections, diagnoses, and completed repairs.
  • Work closely with Service Advisors to ensure customers receive accurate repair information and timelines.
  • Deliver high-quality workmanship in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment.
  • Maintain a safe, organized workspace and uphold manufacturer and dealership standards at all times.
