About The Position

Jeff Wyler Colerain Honda is seeking experienced Automotive Technicians for its busy Service Department. This role is for technicians who can diagnose and repair most vehicle components with little supervision and have prior experience as a general service technician. The ideal candidate will be an efficient and accurate worker, adhering to dealership and factory standards, and will be able to identify and communicate additional service needs to the service advisor. This position also involves participating in manufacturer training, keeping up with technical bulletins, and potentially supervising apprentice technicians. Maintaining a clean shop area, adhering to safety and environmental regulations, and ensuring customer vehicles are kept clean are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Experience working in diagnostic / engine work preferred.
  • Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment testing, including a background check, MVR, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, by the dealership and factory standards.
  • Diagnoses the cause of most malfunctions and performs repair.
  • Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean.
  • Notifies the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment safely.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
