About The Position

A retail automotive service technician is an essential part of the PTC retail team. In this role you will have continued opportunity for growth with PTC as you continue to gain more experience and learn new skills. As a retail tire and general service technician you will be required to perform a wide range of tasks from mounting tires to oil changes and general maintenance items that may include but are not limited to the key points in the following points.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the automotive industry
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be reliable and dependable and display excellent attendance.
  • Advanced TIA Tire Service Certification
  • Ability to operate a forklift while loading or unloading freight, forklift certification class provided after employment.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 100lbs
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certifications preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Consistently working at an efficient rate.
  • Focusing on work quality, customer satisfaction, continued learning and safety.
  • Certified to perform State Inspections
  • Having the ability to adapt to different equipment (tire machines, balancers, etc.)
  • Assist with junior technicians, diagnostics, and other problems that may arise
  • Supervise repairs of other technicians
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of drivability and engine problems
  • Having the ability to identify tire and wheel sizes as well as tire ply ratings.
  • Properly torquing wheels
  • Proving the ability to be proficient in troubleshooting and repairing tire pressure monitoring system
  • Checking and completing basic services such as brake, alignments, fluid changes, headlight bulbs, filters, serpentine belts and suspension efficiently and correctly.
  • Proving the ability to accurately diagnose tire wear or vibration problems.
  • Performing flat tire repairs; being able to identify the cause of a leak and determine if it can be safely repaired or if it needs to be replaced, when repairing a tire you must adhere to TIA recommended procedures).
  • Assist in shop and grounds clean up to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Following Tire Industry Association safety procedures
