About The Position

An Automotive Technician III is an essential part of the PTC retail team. In this role you will have continued opportunity for growth with PTC as you continue to gain more experience and learn new skills. As a retail tire and general service technician you will be required to perform a wide range of tasks from general maintenance and repair items to tire installations and oil changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the automotive industry
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 100 lbs
  • Certified to perform State Inspections
  • Dependable - Employee must be reliable, responsible and trustworthy, and complete all assigned obligations.
  • Attention to Detail - Employee must be thorough in completing tasks and must always be aware of potential safety issues.
  • Cooperation - Employee must be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
  • Integrity - Employee is required to be honest and ethical.
  • Communication - Employee must provide courteous and clear written and verbal communication with customers and co-workers.
  • Lifting and carrying – the ability to lift and transport objects of specified weights, which may vary by job. For example, a job may require lifting up 25-50lbs regularly.
  • Standing and walking – this position will require standing and walking for periods of time
  • Bending and stooping – bending, stooping, or crouching are requiring to effectively preform essential duties of this position.
  • Reaching and pushing/pulling – the ability to reach for items, push carts, or pull equipment will be necessary for daily activities.
  • Sitting – there will be times this position will be needed to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • This position will also be required to operate certain machinery and other equipment safely.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certifications preferred but not required
  • Advanced TIA Tire Service Certification

Responsibilities

  • Focusing on work quality, customer satisfaction, continued learning and safety
  • Vehicle Alignments
  • Experience in mechanical repairs.
  • Having the ability to adapt to different equipment (tire machines, balancers, etc.)
  • Assisting with junior technicians, diagnostics, and other problems that may arise
  • Performing diagnostics and troubleshooting of drivability and engine problems
  • Identifying tire and wheel sizes as well as tire ply ratings.
  • Properly torquing wheels
  • Troubleshooting and repairing tire pressure monitoring system
  • Checking and completing basic services such as brakes, alignments, fluid changes, headlight bulbs, filters, serpentine belts and suspension.
  • Diagnosing tire wear or vibration problems.
  • Performing flat tire repairs.
  • Identifying the cause of a leak
  • Determining if it can be safely repaired or if it needs to be replaced
  • Assisting in shop and grounds clean up to maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Keep equipment clean and organized
  • Following Tire Industry Association (TIA) safety procedures
  • Any other duties assigned by the store manager
