About The Position

As an Automotive Technician at Generation Buick GMC, part of the Generation Auto Group, you are responsible for accurately inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing vehicles to manufacturer and dealership standards. You play a key role in ensuring every vehicle is safe, dependable, and repaired correctly the first time. Your technical skill, attention to detail, and efficiency directly impact customer satisfaction, shop productivity, and the overall success of our service operations. In summary, Service Technicians at Generation Auto Group are responsible for the complete care and maintenance of customer vehicles while delivering professional service, technical excellence, and a positive customer experience in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Hold a valid and clean driver’s license
  • GM experience (REQUIRED)
  • Punctual, reliable, and self-motivated
  • Able to stand for 6–8 hours per day
  • Able to bend, stretch, reach, climb, and lift up to 70 lbs
  • Own a complete set of tools and toolbox
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools, equipment, and tablet-based applications
  • Comfortable using computer software and dealership systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work Saturdays
  • Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to changing technologies

Nice To Haves

  • New York State Inspector’s License (a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tires, brakes, fluids, filters, NYS Inspections, and batteries.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle issues efficiently.
  • Review customer concerns, complete approved repairs, and ensure vehicles operate properly.
  • Notify management if no issue is found or if assistance is needed.
  • Complete required manufacturer training.
  • Stay current with automotive technology and repair methods.
  • Continuously develop technical skills and certifications.
  • Accurately document all work performed.
  • Complete both print and video Multi-Point Inspections and communicate recommended services.
  • Enter clear technician notes
  • Work closely with Service Advisors, Parts, Dispatch, and Management.
  • Provide updates on repair status and parts needs.
  • Return vehicles clean and properly set up for the customer.
  • Take pride in quality workmanship and presentation.
