About The Position

RLE INTERNATIONAL is seeking an Automotive Systems Engineer specializing in Vehicle Access (NFC & Key Fob) development. This role involves the development of new NFC and Key Fob hardware, software, and systems. The engineer will work with lead engineers to manage subsets of parts and requirements, lead design reviews with internal and external teams including suppliers, and ensure quality documentation. A key aspect of the role is ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as FMVSS, ECE, RF certification, and homologation. The position also includes packaging receiver modules for optimal RF reception, developing and executing design verification plans (DVP) for NFC READER and Key Fob systems, and tracking issues using FEDE and JIRA. The engineer will manage parts release in WERS, support programs through launch by leading issue resolution, and present status to management. Collaboration with Chassis and Vehicle Operations teams is essential to meet interface and process/assembly requirements. Travel to supplier facilities and Ford assembly plants is required to support design reviews, product launches, and APQP and PPAP approvals. Additional responsibilities include FEDE BOM, DBC, Device Transmittal, VSCS, ED&T and Mountain Charts, and ESOW.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with design and testing of Automotive electrical systems – hardware, software, and systems.
  • Experience with vehicle network tools including CANalyzer.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Must be motivated and self-driven to find and lead issues to closure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with development/testing of wireless technology is a plus.
  • Master's Degree.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new NFC and Key Fob hardware, software, and systems.
  • Take responsibility for a subset of parts/requirements under the guidance of a lead engineer.
  • Lead design reviews with internal and external teams, including suppliers.
  • Develop and review quality documentation.
  • Ensure requirements such as FMVSS, ECE, and other regulatory or legal requirements are met, including RF certification and homologation.
  • Optimize RF reception through packaging of receiver modules.
  • Develop and execute design verification plan (DVP) for NFC READER and Key Fob systems on bench, HIL, and vehicle per program milestones requirements (DCV, PEC, FEC, etc).
  • Track status in FEDE and JIRA for issues.
  • Manage parts release in WERS.
  • Support programs through launch by leading issue resolution and presenting status to management.
  • Collaborate with Chassis and Vehicle Operations teams to ensure interface and process/assembly requirements are met.
  • Travel to supplier facilities and Ford assembly plants as needed to support design reviews and launches of new products, APQP and PPAP approval.
  • Manage FEDE BOM, DBC, Device Transmittal, VSCS, ED&T and Mountain Charts, ESOW.
