About The Position

This position is a working supervisor in the automotive shop supervising a team of 4, to include assignment of work and oversite of the preventive maintenance program as well as overseeing inventory management and purchasing of all parts and supplies. Additional duties include managing vehicle registration process, tag renew, communications with customer, and any other special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree in Automotive/Diesel Technology with more than 8 years of experience.
  • Experience with prioritizing and assigning work.
  • Experience conducting quality assurance on completed work.
  • Experience with record management.
  • Basic Computer experiences with Excel and Word.
  • Fleet maintenance management and inventory software experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree in Automotive/Diesel Technology
  • Commercial Driver's License Class C with Passenger Endorsement

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, prioritize, and assign work and preventative maintenance tasks to automotive mechanics.
  • Provide quality control of completed shop work.
  • Review work orders prior to finalization with the maintenance management software.
  • Provide training and assistance to fleet mechanics in difficult situations or during peak times.
  • Conduct time entry, schedule vacations, and conduct annual evaluations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of service parts within maintenance management software.
  • Purchase parts as needed.
  • Monitor part prices to ensure best value and quality.
  • Research hard to find parts.
  • Oversee Fleet Management, vehicle registration, and renewal processes.
  • Maintain Campus fueling stations to include refueling tanks, tank operations, and spill kits.
  • Maintain SPCC supply inventory and equipment.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and engagement with Elon’s foundational commitment to relationships, mentoring and collaboration in a close-knit residential community.

  • Provide Emergency Operations support and occasional weekend on-call per the schedule.
