Automotive Service Technology Adjunct Instructor
About The Position
Northland Community and Technical College is seeking a motivated and skilled Automotive Service Technology Adjunct Instructor to support the preparation of the next generation of automotive technicians. This position will primarily teach first-year automotive courses in a hands-on, student-centered learning environment that emphasizes technical skill development, safety, and industry readiness. The ideal candidate is passionate about the automotive industry, committed to student success, and eager to share real-world experience in a collaborative and supportive educational setting.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in Automotive Service Technology or a closely related field
- Four (4) full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automotive service technology
- Current ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification in the areas assigned for instruction
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching or training experience in a postsecondary or industry setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with emerging automotive technologies (hybrid, electric vehicles, diagnostics systems)
Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction in first-year Automotive Service Technology courses, including foundational automotive systems
- Facilitate hands-on lab activities aligned with industry standards and safety practices
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success
- Assess student learning through assignments, labs, and evaluations
- Maintain current knowledge of automotive technologies and industry trends
- Support student development in technical skills, problem-solving, and workplace readiness
- Collaborate with faculty and program leadership to ensure program quality and consistency
