About The Position

This role involves performing automotive services efficiently using state-of-the-art equipment. The technician will assist other mechanics, inspect, diagnose, and repair various vehicle systems, and communicate findings to service advisors and customers. Continuous learning of new technical information and equipment is expected. The position requires maintaining tools, securing equipment, and ensuring a clean and hazard-free work environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
  • A high level of motivation and energy.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Appropriate hand tools necessary for services performed.
  • Safe working knowledge of shop tools and equipment such as scanners, electrical diagnostic equipment, A/C recovery equipment, fluid exchange equipment, lift operation, etc.
  • Ability to identify, comprehend and act on changing requirements.
  • Ability to work well under different environment conditions.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach and retrieve; lift, move, carry, and load items of various sizes and weights in operable and undamaged condition.
  • Ability to communicate and understand English and Spanish; including reading and writing.
  • Maintain a valid driver license.
  • Ability to drive a variety of vehicle types.
  • Insurable.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.
  • A/C Refrigerant handling certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently perform needed services by utilizing state of the art automotive equipment.
  • Assist technician mechanics in performing technical activities.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, steering, suspension and alignment, braking, air conditioning, and computer systems.
  • Adequately explain discovered technical diagnoses and required repairs to service advisors and if necessary to customers.
  • Continuously seek out and learn new technical information, equipment, tools and techniques in formal training sessions to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology.
  • Professionally record findings on approved documents so that necessary customer estimates and proper repairs can be made.
  • Assist technician/mechanics in performing technical activities.
  • Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
  • Maintain and secure work tools.
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
  • Maintain an organized, clean and hazard free work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
