About The Position

Bill Talley Ford is a family-owned company with two locations proudly serving the Richmond area for over 50 years. We are looking for an experienced Automotive Technician to join our team at our standalone Quick Lane location. This is a full-service automotive repair facility, not just an oil-change and maintenance shop. Our technicians perform a wide range of maintenance, diagnostic, and repair work, and we're looking for a skilled technician who wants to be part of a busy, established shop with a great team.

Requirements

  • Automotive technician experience required; 2+ years preferred
  • Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a variety of automotive systems
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to learn new technology and diagnostic systems
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Virginia State Inspection license is a plus, but not required. Candidates with strong automotive experience who are interested in obtaining their Virginia State Inspection certification are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality maintenance and repairs according to repair orders and manufacturer specifications
  • Diagnose vehicle concerns using diagnostic tools and electronic test equipment
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair automotive systems, including mechanical, electrical, steering, suspension, brake, and drivability concerns
  • Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems as needed
  • Communicate clearly with Service Advisors regarding diagnostic findings and any additional recommended repairs
  • Provide accurate estimates of the time needed to complete additional repairs
  • Perform warranty repairs according to manufacturer specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Work as part of a team committed to quality repairs and excellent customer service
