About The Position
A well-established, high-volume automotive dealership in Northern New Jersey is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Director / Service Manager to lead its service department. This leadership role is ideal for a proven automotive service professional who can drive service department profitability, technician productivity, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction while building and leading a high-performing team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Automotive Service Manager or Service Director experience
- Proven experience running a high-volume dealership service department
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills
- Ability to analyze reports, identify trends, and improve service department performance
- Strong focus on customer satisfaction, employee accountability, and operational efficiency
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the automotive service department
- Lead and support service advisors, technicians, and support staff
- Monitor technician productivity, shop efficiency, service KPIs, and departmental profitability
- Drive high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and service revenue
- Manage service scheduling, repair workflow, dispatching, and repair quality
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer policies, warranty procedures, and dealership standards
- Collaborate closely with the parts and sales departments to support dealership operations
- Resolve escalated customer concerns and maintain a positive service experience
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency, and overall fixed operations results
