About The Position

Caliber Collision has an immediate job opening for an Automotive Painter at their Service Center Mira Mesa. This role involves performing all-purpose painting duties, including preparing and mixing paint colors to match existing finishes. The Automotive Painter is responsible for ensuring that all paint formulations, preparations, top coating, and curing processes adhere to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommended standards for application sequence, timing, and materials usage. Additionally, the position requires ensuring that all paint operations are completed, masking is removed, and any previously disassembled paint-related components are reassembled before the vehicle is returned to the body technician. Caliber Collision, established in 1997, operates over 1,600 centers nationwide with more than 25,000 teammates, focusing on restoring the rhythm of customers' lives through high-quality auto collision repair and glass services.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in paint operations within a collision center.
  • Ability to do consistent physical activity, including reaching below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, and squatting.
  • Ability to lift objects over 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions, written estimates, and work orders.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work through competing priorities and adapt easily to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Auto Body certificate or ASE certification in refinishing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all-purpose duties related to automotive painting.
  • Prepare color tint to match paint color.
  • Mix paint colors.
  • Ensure all formulations, preparations, top coating, and curing meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) recommended standards for proper application sequence, timing, and materials usage.
  • Ensure that all paint operations are complete.
  • Ensure all masking is removed.
  • Ensure all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician.
