About The Position

Painters complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to work instruction specifications. May also prime, edge, or jam replacement parts. This role involves reading blueprints, using measuring tape, levels, and squares for installations based on Engineering documentation. The painter will use standard hand tools and power tools, and apply various types of paints and coatings. Responsibilities include preparing the paint booth, wet sanding/buffing, maintaining spray guns, and using consumables. The role also involves bodywork such as filling, blocking, and performing dent repair. The painter must demonstrate attention to detail, balance team and individual responsibilities, uphold organizational values, and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Proper use of PPE and adherence to safety and security procedures are also required.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Desire to contribute to success of company with hard work and dedication.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply instructions from blueprints and/or engineering work instructions.
  • 5 years’ experience painting in automotive industry.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Axalta and PPG paint system products preferred.
  • Fiber Glass preferred for mixing Bondo.
  • Ability to use metric measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicles according to work instruction specifications.
  • Prime, edge, or jam replacement parts.
  • Read blueprints.
  • Use measuring tape, levels, and squares for installations based on Engineering documentation.
  • Use standard hand tools where applicable.
  • Use power tools such as electric and pneumatic tools where applicable.
  • Use lacquers, primers, synthetic enamels polyurethane, clear coat and epoxy with spray guns.
  • Installation and removal of fasteners such as nuts, bolts and rivets.
  • Prepare paint booth for spraying applications.
  • Wet sanding/buffing to ensure the paint finish meets quality standards.
  • Use and maintain a spray gun (HVLP).
  • Use consumables such as various grits of sandpapers, degreasers, proper cleaning towels etc.
  • Perform taping, masking, sanding, buffing and other prepare for paint work as instructed.
  • Prepare unit for painting: sanding, blocking, applying putty and visual inspection.
  • Perform bodywork (filling, blocking, bodyline creating/moving).
  • Mix and apply primers, polyurethane and epoxy.
  • Disassemble and reassemble body components.
  • Perform dent repair using filler.
  • Perform metal finish processes.
  • Mix Bondo.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Uphold organizational values.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Proper use of PPE and observe safety and security procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $17.50-$25.00/hour
