About The Position

The Automotive Buffer is responsible for restoring and polishing vehicle paint surfaces after repair and refinishing. This role focuses on removing imperfections such as scratches, swirl marks, and dust nibs to achieve a high-quality, showroom-level finish. Success in this position is measured by production efficiency and quality outcomes with no required rework.

Requirements

  • Understanding of paint correction techniques, polishing compounds and equipment usage.
  • Ability to identify surface defects and apply the appropriate correction method.
  • Must be dependable, detail-focused, and a team player
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • 18 years of age or older

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in auto buffing, detailing, or paint finishing preferred
  • Experience working in dealership or high-volume recon settings
  • Knowledge of PDR, buffing, and detailing

Responsibilities

  • Buff, polish, and finish painted vehicle panels using rotary and dual-action buffers.
  • Remove defects such as orange peel, runs, dust, and light scratches without damaging paint surfaces.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure a consistent, high-gloss finish that meets company and customer standards.
  • Move vehicles in and out of prep/paint booths and staging areas
  • Assist painters and body technicians with repair flow
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area, tools, and safety equipment
  • Follow all company safety and quality standards
