About The Position

The Lou Fusz Automotive Network is looking for motivated, dependable, and skilled Automotive Mechanics to join our growing Service Departments. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our customers' vehicles while delivering the quality and service our customers have come to expect from Lou Fusz. We are looking for technicians who take pride in their work, understand the importance of doing the job right, and want to continue developing their skills. Whether you're an experienced mechanic or an automotive professional looking for an opportunity to grow, we provide the training, tools, and support to help you succeed. This is a union position that is governed by the District No. 9, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers A.F.L. - C.I.O.

Requirements

  • Previous automotive repair or mechanical experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of automotive systems, components, and repair procedures.
  • The ability to diagnose problems accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
  • A strong work ethic and commitment to completing work correctly.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer and technology skills.
  • The willingness to learn new technology, diagnostic equipment, and repair procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to provide your own basic hand tools, where applicable.
  • Willingness to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE certifications are a plus.
  • Manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on a variety of vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair automotive systems and components.
  • Perform oil changes, brake repairs, tire services, battery replacement, and other maintenance services.
  • Inspect vehicles to identify needed repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform multi-point vehicle inspections and accurately document findings.
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and drivability concerns.
  • Perform engine, transmission, suspension, steering, and HVAC repairs as qualified.
  • Use diagnostic equipment, scan tools, meters, and other specialized tools to identify vehicle concerns.
  • Interpret diagnostic information and determine appropriate repair procedures.
  • Complete repairs efficiently and accurately according to manufacturer and dealership standards.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Communicate effectively with Service Advisors regarding vehicle concerns, repair recommendations, and repair status.
  • Identify additional safety or maintenance concerns and communicate recommendations to the Service Advisor.
  • Properly document parts, labor, and repair information.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Properly use and maintain shop tools and equipment.
  • Follow all dealership and manufacturer safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in manufacturer and dealership training to stay current with evolving vehicle technology.
  • Work cooperatively with other Technicians, Service Advisors, Parts personnel, and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
