About The Position

Southern Tire Mart is seeking an experienced Automotive Mechanic to diagnose and repair mechanical systems on cars and light duty trucks. This role involves a wide range of services including brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrains, electrical systems, and preventative maintenance. The mechanic will also conduct fleet inspections, operate diagnostic tools, perform tire services, and maintain detailed records. Safety and adherence to regulations are paramount. The position also includes assisting with parts inventory and shop organization.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (trade school certification a plus).
Prior experience as an automotive mechanic.
Strong mechanical knowledge and problem-solving ability.
Must be able to lift/move tires and equipment (30–250 lbs., with or without mechanical aids).
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
Willingness to work in varying conditions (weather, noise, physical demands).

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair mechanical systems on cars and light duty trucks, including: Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Alignments, Drivetrains, Electrical systems, Preventative Maintenance (PM) inspections, Leveling kits
Conduct fleet inspections and perform scheduled maintenance.
Operate diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot issues accurately.
Perform tire-related services as needed (mounting, balancing, repairing).
Use and maintain Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS).
Maintain detailed records of work performed.
Adhere to all safety guidelines, company policies, and DOT regulations.
Assist with parts inventory and shop organization.
Complete other duties as assigned.
