Requirements

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
  • Possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of a CFC-12 Refrigerant Recycling Certificate and a 134A Refrigerant Recycling Certificate, which can be obtained after hire
  • You must provide your own mechanics toolbox and basic tool set.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and powered hand tools
  • Complete oil changes, diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and system adjustments on gasoline and diesel equipment
  • Conduct official safety and emissions inspections and complete required documentation and repair verification
  • Carry out service tasks on diesel equipment including replacing filters, pumps, gaskets, and related components
  • Perform emergency road service and complete maintenance tasks at county stockpiles when required
  • Maintain a safe work area, follow protective procedures, and report injuries or hazards promptly
