Automotive Mechanic (B Tech) - Budget Truck - FT
About The Position
Avis Budget Group is seeking an Automotive Mechanic (B Tech) to join their Budget Truck operations team. In this role, you will perform essential mechanical repairs and maintenance on a diverse fleet of newer moving vans and box trucks with minimal technical supervision. Your work is crucial in ensuring trucks are safe, reliable, and available, directly supporting customer businesses and a smooth rental experience. You will be responsible for oil and fluid services, lubrication, tire repairs, brake and suspension work, and warranty-related repairs. You may also assist senior technicians with more complex diagnostics and repair procedures. Driving a Budget Truck on public roads for testing, repair verification, or operational support may be required. By keeping vehicles operating safely and efficiently, your work helps reduce downtime, supports fleet availability, and ensures customers can get on the road with confidence.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License (Class A, B, or C)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional auto repair experience
- At least 1 ASE certification, with the ability to obtain 2 additional ASE certifications within the first year
- Working knowledge of ASE certification areas including, but not limited to: Engine Repair, Drivetrain/Axles, Suspension/Steering, Brakes, Electrical, Heating/Air Conditioning, Engine Performance, and Light Vehicle/Diesel
- Comfortable working in a mechanical shop with moderate to loud noise levels
- Must have a complete set of tools required for automotive repair and maintenance
- Basic computer skills, including typing and data entry
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, continuously stand, bend, reach, walk, sit and kneel frequently, enter, exit and drive vehicles
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to obtain DOT medical clearance
- This position requires regular, on-site presence and cannot be performed remotely
Nice To Haves
- Previous Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) experience is preferred and considered a strong advantage
