About The Position

The Senior Automotive Mechanic modifies cars and trucks in a prototype environment and performs a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The role also mentors and oversees team members’ technical deliverables to help ensure customer standards are met. The successful candidate must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 8 years of work experience as a mechanic.
Excellent knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to mentor and train others.
Own tools with a rolling toolbox.
Ability to read, comprehend, and execute written procedures.

Nice To Haves

Certificate in Automotive Technology or a related field.
State Mechanic Certification(s).
Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning system repairs, tire machines, and balancers.
Ability to work overtime as needed, including weekends.

Responsibilities

Maintain vehicle functional condition by working from repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.
Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
Train, coach, and mentor team members on their job responsibilities and serve as a subject matter expert to assist the team and customers.
Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service information, and repair orders.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and requesting repairs.
Lead daily shop organization and clean-up.
