Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience; Education in Automotive Technology may be substituted in lieu of experience
  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification as an Automotive Service Technician (310S), with Red Seal endorsement, preferred.
  • Experience with hybrid, electric vehicle (EV), and advanced propulsion systems (high-voltage safety, battery diagnostics, electric motors, regenerative braking). Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) calibration, sensor alignment, and repair.
  • Ability to interpret complex service manuals, schematics, and manufacturer updates.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices, including hazardous materials handling and refrigerant certification (if performing A/C work).
  • Structural component and damage knowledge.
  • Ability to use multiple computer/mobile apps in the field on company-issued devices
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and repair vehicles. Proficiency with hand tools and other equipment.
  • Excellent listening, problem-solving, and communication skills. Self-motivated, independent, and reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, talk, and hear. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat, and climb. Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to lift/move 11–25 lbs, and occasionally over 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Perform Vehicle Maintenance: change oil, oil filter, fuel filter, transmission flush, and inspection of the vehicle for mechanical deficiencies.
  • Perform pre- and post-sale mechanical and structural inspections, including road tests.
  • Diagnose transmission and engine problems onsite and in the field with inspectors.
  • Based upon certification levels, perform various diagnoses, repairs and maintenance, which may include: Mount and balance tires, Replace bulbs/fuse as needed to complete functionality of the associated system, Replace drive belts, Brake repairs on disc brake systems and conventional drum brakes, Coolant system repairs, A/C leak test/evacuate and recharge, Diagnosis and repair of OBD II systems, Brake components, tires, tune-ups, suspension components, Electrical systems, State Safety Inspections, Interior/exterior components, Engine and driveline components, Advanced diagnostics, Engine/driveline diagnosis and repair, Parts replacement and some fabrication.
  • Maintain the assigned work area and ensure the shop is clean and tidy at all times.
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe and conscientious manner.
  • Multi-task and use company-issued equipment to help answer questions for inspectors in the field.
  • Handle and dispose of all fluids as defined by MSDS and in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Create and maintain vehicle history and maintenance records as defined/directed by management.
  • Assure prompt repairs by interfacing and coordinating with vendors for parts and repairs.
  • Complete road test drives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Minor travel as needed
