About The Position
The Auction Base Technician possesses a general mechanical knowledge of all basic systems of a vehicle. The new employee must know how to operate and run both a tire machine and an alignment rack. The Auction Base Technician is responsible for performing vehicle inspections and repair as assigned in accordance with AutoNation Auction standards. Keep America Moving. Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least two years automotive experience (preferred)
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and information
- General mechanical skills and must have technical aptitude.
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
- Manual dexterity, good judgment and ability to operate power and hand tools and other types of machinery safely
Responsibilities
- Diagnose the cause of malfunction and be able to note recommendations on inspection sheet.
- Must know how to operate and run both a tire machine and an alignment rack.
- Perform needed repairs upon approval from Management.
- Communicate with Auction Inspection Manager about parts needed.
- Performing work with efficiency and accuracy.
- Examining the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
- Record all work to be performed and completing the work order in the Auction System as soon as the job is complete.
- Stay current in the latest diagnostic methods and service techniques for the vehicles.
- Become familiar with latest bulletins, service manuals and other service publications.
- Communicate regularly with Auction Inspection Manager to confirm repair information and diagnostic information.
- Follow federal, state and local regulations such as the disposal of hazardous wastes.
