About The Position

To provide temporary assistance in an automotive lab setting. This role involves ensuring safe laboratory conditions, organizing lab activities, assisting students with equipment, performing clerical duties, maintaining inventory, initiating purchase requisitions, operating and maintaining equipment, collecting data, and potentially overseeing related tasks. The position is hourly, up to 19 hours per week, with a pay rate of $23.00/hour.

Requirements

  • Ability to ensure safe automotive laboratory conditions.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize laboratory activities.
  • Ability to assist students in the use of lab equipment and facilities.
  • Proficiency in performing clerical duties including operating a computer, maintaining records and files, and compiling data and reports.
  • Ability to maintain an inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Ability to initiate purchase requisitions, control expenditures, and prepare cost estimates.
  • Ability to operate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to collect data, records, and other information, and submit reports.
  • Ability to oversee or delegate related tasks as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe automotive laboratory conditions including safe and secure handling and storage of supplies and equipment. May recommend, implement, and maintain safety standards and departmental policies and procedures to comply with federal, state, and local hazardous materials, health and safety, hazardous waste regulations, and other applicable regulations.
  • Organizes, plans, and prioritizes automotive laboratory activities for designated area.
  • May assist students in use of lab equipment and facilities.
  • Performs clerical duties including operating a computer, maintaining records and files, and compiling data and reports as required.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Initiates purchase requisitions, controls expenditures, and prepares cost estimates for budget recommendation; submits justifications and requests for capital outlay items; may prepare specifications and analyze bids for purchases.
  • Operates, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment; sets up, configures, and calibrates new equipment. Performs routine maintenance and repair.
  • Collects data, records, and other information, and submits reports as required.
  • May oversee or delegate related tasks to others as deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
