About The Position

Protech Automotive Solutions is hiring an Automotive Installation Technician to install and support fleet technology on cars, trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets. The hands-on role is suited to candidates with automotive, mechanical, electrical, fleet, or installation experience who are interested in learning new technology. Relevant automotive experience can transfer to the position, and training is provided.

Technicians install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment. Work includes basic 12V/24V wiring, routing and securing wiring, testing systems, diagnosing electrical and connectivity issues, and documenting completed installations. The role also involves traveling to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects. A strong focus on safety, quality, and completing installations correctly the first time is expected.

Requirements

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions.

Nice To Haves

• Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience.
• Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms.
• 12V/24V electrical experience.
• Commercial truck or trailer experience.
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience.
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment.
• Work on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.
