About The Position

In this position, you will be unloading vehicles to transport by truck, or train. Our diverse team works together to productively meet deadlines, solve problems, and carefully drive vehicles off of railcars for consignment. This role will also require climbing up and down railcar ladders, opening and closing railcar doors, placing and removing chocks that secure vehicles for shipment, and the ability to be able to climb in and out of vehicles repeatedly. This role involves physical labour and requires employees to work outdoors year-round. If you thrive off the high of a “good day’s work” and are comfortable in a physically demanding environment, this position may be for you.

Requirements

  • Punctual and reliable
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Team player with a strong safety mindset
  • Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Able to adhere to quality and safety standards
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physically capable of performing manual labour, including: climbing ladders up to 15 feet in height; lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 50lbs; working on uneven surfaces and in an active railyard environment

Responsibilities

  • Follow the daily plan as communicated by local leadership.
  • Drive vehicles onto railcars, often working at heights, using a ramp system.
  • Ensure vehicles are spotted in accordance with customer standards and properly spaced and secured within the railcar
  • Perform duties to prepare railcars and containers for shipment such as opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, chocking and de-chocking vehicles.
  • Maintain organization of vehicles in the yard inventory.
  • Understand and adhere to all company and industry-related safety standards and procedures.
  • Communicate with the Terminal Manager and other railroad personnel to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
