About The Position

Perform all the mechanical duties required to maintain, repair, and rebuild all the electrical, gas- and diesel-powered cars, trucks, buses, tractors, mowers, etc. located here at Sunland. This is to include but not limited to engine rebuild, brake jobs, repair cooling systems, charging systems, electrical repairs, steering sections, drive train, etc. This is to be done on a daily and on-going basis.

Requirements

  • At least one (1) year of experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of the principles and basic techniques of automotive repair work.
  • Knowledge of the equipment and materials used in the repair of automotive equipment.
  • Skill in the use of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to perform a variety of automotive equipment repairs.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles.
  • Ability to inspect and tune up equipment.
  • Ability to assist in body and fender repair work.
  • Ability to replace, repair and install accessories, such as radios, heaters, windshield wipers, etc.
  • Ability to provide instruction to the lower level mechanics.
  • Ability to perform oxygen acetylene and electric welding.
  • Ability to repair and replace fuel injection systems.
  • Ability to review ignition systems, lights and instrument panels.

Nice To Haves

  • EPA 609 Motor Vehicle air conditioning (MVAC) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties and responsibilities required to do repairs and preventative maintenance services on all gas and electrically powered carts.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities required to do preventative maintenance services on all autos, trucks, buses, tractors, mowers, and other related electrical, gas or diesel power equipment.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities required to do tire repair and wheel balances on all autos, trucks, buses, tractors, mowers, and all other equipment with tires and wheels on them.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities required to carry out a full preventative maintenance program on all emergency generators. This is to include but not limited to oil changes, filter replacement, cleaning, repair, and servicing, etc.
  • Maintain a complete tool inventory on all tools and equipment assigned to the auto shop. Keep all tools, clean. Keep shop floor clean. Keep the outside of the building clean and free from debris to assure a safe workplace.
  • Perform all other related duties as required.
