About The Position

Tessera is seeking a dedicated and reliable Equipment Mechanic with a positive attitude. The Equipment Mechanic II is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy equipment brought into the shop. The Equipment Mechanic II will diagnose, suggest repairs, perform services, and complete all work to meet quality control standards. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Performs preventive maintenance inspections, overhauls and repairs automotive and engineering equipment including but not limited to passenger-carrying vehicles, light and heavy trucks, trailers, Safeguards Transporter Trailer, Armored Tractor, Escort Vehicles, Support Vehicles, and other equipment. Uses operator hoists, wrenches, gauges, cutting torches, grinding wheels, and other general or specialized machines, gauges, and tools. Performs work requiring the reading of prints, electrical diagrams, and maintenance instructions applicable to the craft. Ensure accurate and efficient replacement of parts and makes repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Performs duties under the direction of line management. Maintains accurate records required during performance of job duties. Adheres to Safety, Fire, and Security Regulations. Ensure that all parts used are properly charged and that exchanged items are turned in to the storeroom or properly disposed of. Assist with grass cutting and snow removal operations when needed. Assist Fort Lee Soldiers/Civilians with the issue, return and training of equipment. Responsible for safe operations and proper care of materials, tools and equipment, and the maintenance of good housekeeping in the Vehicle Maintenance Facility. Ensures compliance to applicable Quality Assurance Programs. Perform all the duties of the Grounds Maintenance Worker.

Requirements

  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in automotive maintenance and small engine repair
  • Ability to use computers and computer software, to include Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals.
  • Valid CDL Class B, preferred.
  • ASE certification or equivalent required.
  • Valid State Driver’s license required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance company.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances as background checks will be conducted for this position.
  • Access to this federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
