Automotive Diagnostic Technician

AutoShop RecruitingSherman Oaks, CA

About The Position

AutoShop Recruiting has partnered with Sherman Oaks Exclusive to hire an experienced Automotive Diagnostic Technician who can independently diagnose complex electrical, drivability, mechanical and intermittent vehicle concerns. European experience is NOT required. We service everything from everyday domestic and Asian vehicles to BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Land Rover, Jaguar and other European and luxury brands. If you already have European experience, great. If you don't, but you have strong diagnostic fundamentals and want to expand your capabilities, we want to hear from you. Sherman Oaks Exclusive offers a strong focus on diagnostics and complex repair, with the opportunity to work on a wide variety of vehicles. They provide advanced diagnostic equipment and resources in an established independent shop with a long history in Sherman Oaks. This is a small-team environment where your technical ability matters, offering the opportunity to expand your European and luxury diagnostic experience in a growing operation with room for a strong technician to make an impact.

Requirements

  • Strong professional automotive repair experience
  • Proven electrical and drivability diagnostic ability
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot difficult vehicle concerns
  • Strong understanding of scan data and electrical testing
  • Ability to develop a diagnostic strategy instead of relying on parts replacement
  • Professional tools appropriate for the position
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • European experience is welcome—but not required. We're much more interested in whether you understand how to diagnose a vehicle than whether you've spent your entire career working on one particular brand.
  • You don't stop at the trouble code. You want to know why the fault occurred, how to prove it and what will actually fix the vehicle.
  • You're comfortable when the diagnosis isn't obvious, you're willing to test before replacing parts and you take pride in solving problems other technicians struggle with.

  • Diagnose check-engine-light and performance concerns
