About The Position

The Automotive Detail Lead is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the detail department by helping coordinate workflow, assisting and guiding detail team members, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring vehicles are completed accurately, efficiently, and to dealership expectations. This position works closely with the Internal Operations Manager to help keep the department organized, productive, safe, and focused on delivering consistent, high-quality results.

  • Working knowledge of automotive detailing processes, chemicals, tools, and equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow dealership policies, repair order procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive detailing experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in a lead, training, or team-support role preferred.
  • Prior retail, automotive service, or automotive maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead and support the detail team by setting a strong example in quality, productivity, professionalism, and work ethic.
  • Assist with assigning and prioritizing detail work to support efficient workflow and timely vehicle completion.
  • Provide hands-on coaching, guidance, and training to detail team members as needed.
  • Write complete and accurate repair orders in accordance with dealership policies and internal procedures.
  • Perform quality control inspections on completed vehicles to ensure work meets dealership standards before release.
  • Help monitor detailing supplies, chemicals, tools, and equipment, and communicate inventory needs to management.
  • Follow and support established detailing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality results.
  • Identify workflow concerns, quality issues, supply needs, or employee performance concerns and communicate them to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with dealership expectations and safety procedures.
  • Support a positive, professional, and team-focused work environment.
  • Assist with customer-related detail concerns when needed, while escalating larger issues to management.
  • Perform detailing work as needed to support department workload and team productivity.
