About The Position

Xcite Automotive is seeking an Automotive Detail Shop Assistant Manager for our partner dealers in Virginia Beach, Virginia! As an Automotive Detail Shop Assistant Manager at Xcite Automotive, you will play a key role in supporting daily detailing operations while helping lead a team of detail technicians in a fast-paced dealership and reconditioning environment. This position is responsible for maintaining dealership-ready vehicle appearance standards, ensuring workflow efficiency, and supporting overall operational success. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong automotive detailing experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to motivate team members while maintaining high production and quality standards. The Assistant Manager must be dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on detailing work.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional automotive detailing experience in a dealership, body shop, collision center, or reconditioning facility.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Detailer, Shop Supervisor, or Assistant Manager
  • Strong knowledge of paint correction, buffing, polishing, waxing, and interior reconditioning techniques.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment with high turnaround expectations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and hold team members accountable.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and work indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
  • Reliable transportation and full-time availability, including weekends if needed.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting overall team operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-volume dealership reconditioning or service department.
  • Previous responsibility for managing production workflow or turnaround metrics.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or onboarding detail technicians.
  • Background as a Recon Supervisor or Collision Center Production Lead.
  • Familiarity with ceramic coatings, advanced paint correction, or specialty detailing services.
  • Strong time-management and operational planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily detailing production in a high-volume dealership environment.
  • Lead, train, and hold detail technicians accountable to company quality standards.
  • Perform hands-on interior and exterior detailing services, including paint correction, buffing, polishing, and reconditioning as needed.
  • Conduct final quality control inspections to ensure all vehicles meet dealership-ready standards prior to delivery.
  • Monitor workflow efficiency, turnaround times, and overall shop productivity.
  • Assist with scheduling and prioritizing vehicles to meet dealership production demands.
  • Enforce company safety procedures and operational compliance standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of detailing bays, equipment, and work areas.
  • Operate detailing equipment, chemicals, and tools safely and responsibly.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding production updates and vehicle status.
  • Assist in training and mentoring new detail technicians to support consistent workmanship and operational success.
  • Support a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on efficiency, accountability, and quality.
