About The Position

This position is for an Automotive Collision Repair Teacher for the 26-27 school year. The teacher will be responsible for implementing daily lesson plans to teach skills required in the Automotive Collision field, providing supervision for safe operation of tools and equipment, and developing assessments to evaluate student progress. The role also involves planning a program of study that meets individual student needs, creating a conducive learning environment, and maintaining accurate student records. The teacher will also attend staff meetings, communicate with parents, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Chapter 74 Automotive Collision Repair license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education or meet the criteria for licensure
  • Passing score on each test (written test, performance test) in automotive collision repair
  • Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to collision repair and refinishing
  • High school diploma or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.
  • Achieve a passing score on the Vocational Technical Literacy Skills Test (VTLST).

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills all duties and responsibilities contained in the contract between the Southeastern Regional School District Committee and the Southeastern Regional Teachers’ Association.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
  • Implement daily lesson plans to teach skills required in the Automotive Collision field.
  • Provide immediate supervision to all students to ensure they safely and effectively operate the wide range of Automotive Collision Repair tools and equipment.
  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress and comprehension.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and responsive to the interests of the students.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon the request of administrative personnel.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media and methodology.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis, keeps accurate and timely records of student achievement, and provides reports of student grades and progress as required.
  • Respects student confidentiality in all contact with any third party.
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation and direction.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aides.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Conveys a high standard of personal deportment and attire.
  • Communicates with parents as needed to assure and encourage student progress.
  • Encourages communication and cooperation in all school areas / departments.
  • Plans and promotes integration activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
