About The Position

The Automotive Accounting Clerk plays a vital role in managing the day-to-day accounting activities within the office. This position involves handling various financial and administrative tasks to ensure accurate and timely processing of dealership records. Pay will be determined by the level of experience.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • One to two years of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret procedural manuals and related documents.
  • Capable of composing routine reports and correspondence, and effectively communicating information in one-on-one or small group settings with customers, colleagues, and the general public.
  • Competent in calculating discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
  • Able to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, proportions, and percentages to practical accounting situations.
  • Possesses sound judgment and common sense to follow instructions given verbally or in writing, and to resolve problems involving concrete variables in standardized contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Calculate and process daily deposits accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Scan and promptly email Finance & Insurance (F&I) product contracts to the relevant vendors.
  • Reconcile sublet and warranty schedules regularly to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Adjust repair orders and parts tickets as necessary to reflect accurate job details.
  • Post warranty credits appropriately to the accounting system.
  • Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with accounting policies.
  • Assist with month-end close reporting, which may occasionally require working weekends and holidays.
  • Ensure all financial reporting is accurate and compliant with company standards.
  • Maintain a high level of organization and excellence within the accounting department.
  • File all dealership documents, including forms, records, reports, and correspondence. Review incoming materials for accuracy and legibility, seek clarification if needed, classify, and file appropriately.
  • Collaborate closely with the Controller to support both professional and personal development goals.
  • Cross-training is expected.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the accounting team and dealership operations.
