About The Position

Ahaus Tool & Engineering is seeking an advanced-level Inspector for its tool and custom automation shop in Richmond, Indiana. This first-shift role tests and inspects products at various stages of the manufacturing process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to help maintain product quality and reliability. When inspection workload allows, the Inspector also assists with building workholding fixtures.

The role includes interpreting engineering drawings and diagrams, testing products against quality requirements, recording and evaluating test data, reporting deviations, and recommending changes to quality or production standards. The Inspector may conduct destructive or nondestructive tests and prepare or enter data for analysis. Requirements

• Five years of experience in an inspection or quality assurance role, preferably in a tool shop or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate PCDmis software, Cordax 1000, Cordax RS 150 DCC, and Comparitor.
• Knowledge of micrometers, inspection tools, shop procedures, and tooling prints.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 pounds.
• May be required to climb stairs and ladders.

Responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and consult management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability levels.
• Select and test products at specified stages in production as required by the quality system, assessing qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics.
• Record test data using statistical quality control approaches.
• Evaluate data and write reports validating requirements or indicating deviations.
• Recommend modifications to quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within equipment capabilities.
• As needed, set up and perform destructive or nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics.
• As needed, prepare data graphs or charts or enter data into a computer for analysis.
• Assist with building workholding fixtures when inspection capacity allows.
