Ahaus Tool & Engineering is located 38 minutes west of the I-70/I-75 interchange in Richmond, Indiana. We're currently searching for an advanced level Inspector at our tool & custom automation shop in Richmond, Indiana. This is a first-shift opportunity.

Requirements

  • Ability to exhibit effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience in an inspection or quality assurance role, preferably within a tool shop or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate PCDmis software, Cordax 1000, Cordax RS 150 DCC and Comparitor
  • Knowledge relating to micrometers, inspection tools, shop procedures, and tooling prints

Responsibilities

  • Tests and inspects products at various stages in the manufacturing process, as required, and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. Assists in Workholding fixturing if inspection workload varies to create additional capacity.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff, as required, to determine quality and reliability levels
  • Select/test at specified stages in production process as required by quality system, and test products for variety of qualities, e.g., dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical, or chemical characteristics
  • Record test data, applying statistical quality control approaches
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing requirements
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability
  • May set up and perform destructive/nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics
  • May prepare graphs/charts of data or enter data into computer for analysis.
  • May specialize in particular area of quality control engineering, such as design, incoming material, process control, product evaluation, inventory control, product reliability, research and development, and administrative applications.
  • Assists with building workholding fixtures when inspection capacity allows for flexibility with an “all hands on deck” mentality.
