The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. The role is part of the Blue National Security business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit. We are seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer to spearhead our automated testing efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated testing frameworks using Python. This role requires a strong understanding of testing best practices and the ability to lead a team of testers.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with spacecraft/satellite test development and/or execution, hardware ownership (Responsible Engineer), or hardware qualification and/or acceptance testing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in test automation using Python.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, PyTest, etc.).
  • Experience with requirements verification.
  • Experience using Docker or containerized environments.
  • Experience with MATLAB, LabVIEW, C++.
  • Hands-on experience conducting tests in a lab setting.
  • Experience in a lead role or managing a test team.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated testing.
  • Knowledge of performance testing and security testing.
  • Experience in agile development environments.
  • Holding a Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance if requested.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python.
  • Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to understand project and testing requirements.
  • Implement testing strategies to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Analyze test results, identify trends, and report findings to development teams.
  • Continuously improve test automation processes and frameworks.
  • Ensure robust test coverage across all application components.
  • Periodically supporting testing events on second shift.
