The Automation Technician, B Crew, will oversee all activities related to process controls, maintenance, manufacturing, installation, support, documentation, and testing of all equipment, including robotics, assembly, on-line fixtures, and conveyor systems. This role involves working closely with Automation Engineers to ensure equipment runs according to specifications, troubleshooting, debugging, and programming automated equipment and upgrades. The technician will be a technical expert for electrical circuits, program logic controls, robot programming, and vision inspection. They will also coordinate the development and maintenance of effective maintenance specifications and preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance. Additionally, the technician will participate in the design of automated machines, equipment, systems, devices, and fixtures to support assembly requirements, recommend equipment improvements, and support maintenance personnel with software and electrical system diagnostics and repairs. Collaboration with production, maintenance, and engineering is key to optimizing equipment performance. The role also includes assisting Automation Engineers with Engineering Change Requests (ECR), executing continuous improvement strategies to reduce scrap and improve productivity/quality, and supporting new program launches and pilot build activities. The technician will assist in determining resolutions to customer issues through process and design changes related to equipment, and support the implementation of TS16949 objectives. Cost-saving activities, including problem-solving, root cause analysis, capital payback analysis, and lean manufacturing analysis, are also part of the responsibilities. Flexibility for off-shift availability and representation, as well as investigating new technologies, is required. The position requires flexibility for on-call duties, remote work, and working outside normal hours.
