About The Position

This role is responsible for instituting and developing cost-effective handling of products and overseeing the maintenance of existing equipment. The Automation Technician will perform all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on automated equipment, set up automation equipment for various combinations, and support production by responding to emergency equipment downtime requests. The position also involves designing and manufacturing equipment product control devices, rebuilding equipment hardware, and performing preventative maintenance. A strong emphasis is placed on performing all job requirements in a safe and professional manner, adhering to food safety and regulatory responsibilities, and maintaining a clean work environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
  • Must have completed Lockout Tagout training.
  • Must have Forklift training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance as set forth in machine manuals and by company policy pertaining to automated equipment.
  • Set up automation equipment for each mold/automation equipment combination, as required.
  • Support production floor(s) by answering emergency equipment down requests, including gathering information as needed from equipment operators in a professional manner.
  • Design and manufacture equipment product control devices.
  • Rebuild equipment prime moving hardware as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all automation equipment.
  • Perform job requirements in safe and professional manner.
  • Complete Lockout Tagout training.
  • Forklift training required.
  • Keep the entire areas of responsibility clean, including the machines and floor.
  • Staff are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Staff are positively encouraged and required to notify management of actual or potential food safety issues.
  • Staff are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.
