About The Position

The Automation Technician supports a designated production line by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated equipment and systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. The role addresses equipment downtime, performs preventive and corrective maintenance, and supports production goals for safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The technician works with production and engineering teams and supports training on automated systems. The position is located in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and follows a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. rotating shift. The stated base pay range is $26.61 to $36.59 per hour. Relocation is not available.

Requirements

Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Technology.
At least 4 years of experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment in a production environment.
Hands-on experience with sensors, pneumatics, motors, drives, and servo systems.
Hands-on experience with industrial HMIs and automation hardware.
Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Ability to work independently under production pressure.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Team-oriented approach and continuous improvement mindset.
Comfort working with engineering and production teams.

Responsibilities

Maintain and troubleshoot automated production equipment, including robots, conveyors, vision systems, and automated assembly and test stations.
Respond to equipment downtime, diagnose root causes, and restore production.
Support daily production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
Verify the proper operation of safety interlocks, light curtains, emergency stops, and guarding.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.
Identify recurring issues and recommend permanent corrective actions.
Retrieve spare parts and assist with equipment documentation.
Participate in root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action activities.
Document repairs, changes, and maintenance activities.
Support training of operators and maintenance personnel on automated systems.
