Yazoo Mills is hiring an Automation Technician to join our well-established and growing company on first shift in our New Oxford facility. JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective: Serves as the primary contact for all electrical controls and automation issues and automation improvement projects across all plants. Serves to improve safety systems and production processes through controls and automation improvements and assists with planning electrical projects. Is also involved in the repair, maintenance, and upkeep of production equipment to prevent or minimize down-time and assists with the basic maintenance and upkeep of facilities. Travel to all 3 facilities may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and plant facilities.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and plant facilities by completing preventative maintenance requirements on production machines, motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems, and all auxiliary plant systems/facilities.
  • Maintains equipment parts and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment parts and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends to reduce machine down time and maintenance costs.
  • Proficient reading and interpreting schematics, and drawings related to electricity and circuits
  • Proficient multi-meter use, able to troubleshoot and correct issues with electrical, control circuits, instrumentation, drives, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install and program HMI’s, PLC’s, and VFD’s
  • Complete I/O checkouts, identify, diagnose, and correct problems with controls and instrumentation systems
  • Design control panel layouts; assembles panels according to design/layout
  • Works closely with the Operations Technology Engineer on developing and implementing electrical & automation projects.
