About The Position

The Automation Technician’s role is to install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot automated systems, including robotics and control systems, to ensure safe, efficient and reliable production equipment and operations.

Requirements

  • University Degree/College Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years related experience in an automotive/manufacturing industry
  • Skills in industrial robot programming, PLC programming, machine vision
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Exhibit initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
  • Able to create alternative solutions to problems
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft computer software (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot
  • Ability to work effectively alone and prioritize
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites
  • Able to work a rotation between midnights, days and afternoons
  • Overtime as required

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic checks on automated production equipment to prevent failures
  • Repair and replace faulty components, including sensors, servo motors, and pneumatic parts
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, such as upgrading and calibrating machines to extend their lifespan and efficiency
  • Address equipment failures and troubleshoot problems under pressure to minimize downtime
  • Develop new automation processes
  • Integrate continuous improvement projects through automation designing, building and programming
  • Verify that new automated systems and production lines are functioning correctly
  • Collaborate with engineers on system design and improvements
