About The Position

The Automation Technician associate performs service work on plasma, oxy/fuel cutting systems, and robots. This position is also responsible for installation, preventative maintenance, onsite troubleshooting and service, and component repair. Performs component upgrades while ensuring a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Must have minimum of three years of Advanced Automation service experience or two years of mechanical repair experience and completion of Airgas Automation Technician Apprenticeship program.
  • Established track record or completion of the Airgas Apprenticeship program may possibly supersede educational requirements
  • Must have a broad knowledge of the welding, cutting and fabrication processes common to the Airgas customer base including but not limited to: Manual, semi-automated and automated welding processes.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of welding and power equipment from many different suppliers.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma with Associate Degree Industrial Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Technical School preferred.
  • Must be able to apply mathematical formulas that quantify the costs associated with the processes so analysis and comparisons may be created.
  • Ability to be a team player with positive attitude towards other associates, customers and work environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, success oriented, mechanically, technically and detail oriented.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to “shift gears” in the face of interrupted schedules, canceled appointments and unfulfilled promises.
  • Must be proficient with computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Committed to safety and following company policies including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Collaborates to troubleshoot cutting systems, components and robots.
  • Services components at customer sites on hard automation with mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Helps maintain quality standards by testing, calibrating, and running machines according to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Supports team clarity by completing service documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment by ensuring all health and safety guidelines are followed both at Airgas and customer facilities.
  • Responsible for attending two weeks of company paid training per year focused on advancing the technician's ability to serve our customer base.
  • Works closely with customers as a trusted partner to foster strong relationships and deliver shared success for the customer and RDA.
  • Maintains accurate and timely expense reporting.
