About The Position

The Automation Technician works alongside Project Management and Water Transfer Technicians to deploy, install, monitor, operate, troubleshoot and remove automated water solutions equipment, i.e., transfer pumps, generators, filtration units, treatment units, water storage tanks and supporting equipment. This role involves routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of electronic, water transfer, water treatment and water storage equipment. The technician will troubleshoot electronic systems and components to identify and resolve malfunctions efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime. Collaboration with other technicians and management is key to supporting ongoing operations and implementing solutions. Following safety protocols and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory are also crucial aspects of this position. The role requires operating water transfer systems, supporting Water Transfer Technicians, and completing required reports daily. Travel is a primary focus within Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas, and Utah. The position also involves participating in ongoing EHS, DOT, policy/procedure, and customer training, as well as driving trucks and operating various equipment. Organizing equipment and inventories, and performing other assigned duties are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an I and E Technician in the oil and gas industry or a similar industrial setting.
  • Strong understanding of electronic principles, circuits, and systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electronic equipment using diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to electronic systems and safety.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Committed to responsible safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Desire to work in a team environment and support objectives that need to be completed, regardless of position.
  • Detail orientated – takes the initiative to get the job done right, the first time.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (no more than 3 moving violations in 3 years).
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as well as random drug testing.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair electronic equipment and systems including SCADA systems, PLC systems, Control Panels and Instrumentation, Communication systems, Data acquisition Systems, and Electrical Systems.
  • Calibrate sensors and 4-20mA loops, Mobus registries, device ID assignment, 2 & 4 wire comms with ohm resistor, and Starlink equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and optimal performance of electronic, water transfer, water treatment and water storage equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electronic systems and components to identify and resolve malfunctions of faults efficiently, as to ensure minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and management to support ongoing operations, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement solutions.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or incidents.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and inventory of spare parts.
  • Operate water transfer systems comprised of both diesel and electric pumps, particulate filtration and fluid storage tanks.
  • Support Water Transfer Technicians with duties related to system installation, inspection, maintenance and repair.
  • Completing and submitting required reports, including field service documentation and timesheets, daily.
  • Travel with a primary focus in Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Texas and Utah.
  • Participating in ongoing EHS, DOT, policy / procedure and specific customer training.
  • Driving trucks and operating several types of equipment to perform job tasks.
  • Organize equipment and inventories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
