About The Position

The Automation Technician performs basic maintenance related to installing, troubleshooting, and repairing tooling, fixtures, shuttle tooling, and tooling aids used in Hot Stamping and other production areas. The role supports production equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, including maintaining production End of Arm and production cell tooling. The technician documents preventive maintenance results in the PLEX system and works to maintain safety, quality, and clean, well-organized work areas. The position also supports Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives and involves developing relevant skills, including through college courses.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge and use of voltage meters, electrical schematics, and measuring tools.
• Knowledge of robots and robot controls.
• English grammar and language skills and math skills; English language ability at a medium skill level.
• Technical capacity and computer experience.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to update standard work forms.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Welding and other fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain production End of Arm and production cell tooling.
• Support emergency and unscheduled production-equipment repairs during production and scheduled repairs during machine service.
• Troubleshoot and repair production tooling as required.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test equipment, and make necessary adjustments to Automation and Cell Tooling.
• Track and perform regular preventive maintenance on tooling and equipment, and enter results into the PLEX system.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, sketches, and schematic diagrams.
• Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material-handling equipment to perform duties.
• Support Engineering strategic initiatives for Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean, orderly, and 5S-organized work areas.
• Maintain workplace safety and quality standards.
• Learn and improve skills relevant to the work, including by taking college courses.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
