The Automation Technician executes routine automation and control system tasks with minor variation, adjusting methods to resolve common operational issues. This role supports daily field operations and I&E. Must be able to work in a team and independently, often under minimal direct supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of relevant automation, instrumentation, or industrial controls experience
  • Basic knowledge of automation and control systems
  • Ability to perform routine troubleshooting with guidance
  • Understanding of safety, compliance, and operating procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the work group
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and follow priorities

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree, vocational training, or technical certification in instrumentation, electronics, or automation preferred
  • Experience with system automation, instrumentation, electric, programmable logic control systems (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), calibrations, and troubleshooting equipment in compressor stations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot routine DCS, PLC, and SIS components
  • Support control system hardware, software, and basic network infrastructure
  • Identify inefficiencies or minor issues in existing automation processes and escalate as needed
  • Assist with documentation, calibration activities, and equipment installation
  • Support onboarding and knowledge transfer for new team members
