About The Position

This role involves performing varied and complex duties related to the service, repair, and general maintenance of high-speed robotic and automation equipment. The technician will be responsible for electrical repairs, diagnosing malfunctions, and troubleshooting microprocessors. They will also be involved in the installation, wiring, and programming of PLCs for smaller in-house automation systems, and will collaborate with vendors and support other maintenance and process technicians during machine downtime. Additionally, the role requires providing technical support to engineering and vendors throughout the design and project completion phases, writing and programming camera vision systems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance automation systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive hands-on related experience.
  • Experience with robotics and automation is required.
  • Experience with industrial electrical is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Understand and interpret electrical schematics and panel drawings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the organization as well as vendors, suppliers, contractors and customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Understand and carry out instructions given in written, verbal or diagram form.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize activities and conduct duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions where limited information exists.
  • Ability to work in a Windows based environment using spreadsheets, databases and word processing (basic Excel, Word) required.
  • Ability to instruct other individuals in safe operation of equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair all production facility equipment.
  • Proficient in the following trades: Welding, electronics, air compressor, machine shop, hydraulics, and electrical maintenance.
  • Use of precision measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, micrometers and various meters.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear.
  • Requires regular standing, walking, manipulating hands, wrist and fingers to grasp tools and parts as well as reaching with hands and arms.
  • Carry up to 50lbs up to 10 feet.
  • Occasionally lift 75lbs (various pieces of equipment) from floor to waist level.
  • Initiate push/pulling forces of up to 40lbs and sustained forces of up to 20lbs for a distance of up to 100 feet.
  • Specific vision abilities requires by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Safety glasses and hearing protection must be worn at all times when performing in this role while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Food Safety protective equipment is required at all time while on the manufacturing floor: including hair nets, gloves and, if applicable, beard nets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Beckhoff, and/or Siemens S7) a plus.
  • Experience in PC based programming languages a plus.
  • Experience with an ERP system preferred.
  • Ability to learn and use 2-D and 3-D software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD to interpret part design, detail drawings & analyze function a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform varied and complex duties and tasks related to service, repair and general maintenance of high speed robotic and automation.
  • Perform electrical repairs to machines and equipment. Diagnose electrical/electronic malfunctions, troubleshoot microprocessors.
  • Installation, wiring, and programming PLC’s for smaller in house automation systems.
  • Work with vendors during installs, modifications and offsite support.
  • Work with and support maintenance technicians and process technicians during machine downtime activities.
  • Technical support with engineering and vendors during design stage thru project completion.
  • Write and program camera vision systems to manufacture quality parts.
  • Continuous improvement to automation systems to increase throughput, reduce scrap and reduce down time.
  • Understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures.
  • Report problems with the QFSMS to a supervisor or manager.
