About The Position

The Automation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing automated manufacturing systems and related electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. This role supports continuous and efficient plant operations by diagnosing equipment malfunctions, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring all systems operate safely and reliably in compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand temperature charts, trend sheets, instructions.
  • Must be able to pass all required safety training and certifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in kiln operations or a similar industrial role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair automated equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, drives, power supplies, sensors, gauges, and test equipment.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems supporting automated production equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Install, start up, and shut down automation and electrical equipment in accordance with company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
  • Assist with commissioning new or upgraded automation systems and production equipment.
  • Diagnose equipment and system failures using schematics, electrical drawings, manuals, and diagnostic tools.
  • Apply electrical/electronic and mechanical theory to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Follow and support lockout/tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
  • Advise operators and maintenance personnel on safe operation and proper handling of automated equipment.
  • Communicate potential electrical or mechanical hazards to management and maintenance teams.
  • Assist maintenance personnel with advanced technical troubleshooting.
  • Support and train maintenance and technical-level employees as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to support plant operations.
