Automation technicians perform various types of work, such as maintaining and troubleshooting automated equipment, including autonomous robots responsible for case, layer, and/or pallet movements. They also perform preventive maintenance and calibrations, troubleshoot, monitor, and improve equipment and systems. Technicians analyze trends and technical data to gain insights and proactively identify issues, and are involved in building technical skills in others. Mechanically skilled technicians are hired as skilled members of warehouse operations teams, responsible for reducing equipment downtime, troubleshooting mechanical and systematic issues, eliminating defects, and building technical mastery. They focus on initiating and implementing continuous improvement projects with the goal of delivering the best product, at the lowest cost, with the highest quality, on time every time, and in a safe environment. They possess mechanical technical mastery to troubleshoot problems and proactively improve production systems, with opportunities to become equipment area owners by creating processes and designs to enhance their areas’ performance.
