About The Position

The Automation Technician II – Nights – B Shift at Jabil is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex automated manufacturing equipment and systems to ensure efficient and continuous production during the night shift. This role focuses on optimizing machine performance, minimizing downtime, and supporting production goals through expert technical assistance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Industrial Automation, Robotics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an Automation Technician in a manufacturing environment, preferably with plastic injection molding or high-volume assembly.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical control systems, including PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMIs, VFDs, and servo drives.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in diagnosing and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Experience with industrial robotics (e.g., Fanuc, ABB, Kuka) including programming, teaching, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Familiarity with vision systems and sensors.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work the B Shift (specific night schedule to be defined).
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks required for equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance on a variety of automated equipment, including robotics, PLCs, vision systems, conveyors, and assembly machines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on production lines, utilizing schematics, blueprints, and diagnostic tools.
  • Execute repairs, adjustments, and modifications to automation equipment to restore functionality and improve performance.
  • Collaborate with production operators and engineers to identify and resolve recurring equipment problems and implement long-term solutions.
  • Assist in the installation, setup, and commissioning of new automation equipment and production lines.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts used, and equipment performance data.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending enhancements to equipment, processes, and safety procedures.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company policies.
  • Provide technical support and training to junior technicians or production personnel as needed.
  • Operate and program industrial robots and other automated systems.
  • Work effectively as part of a team during the night shift, communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
